Pocket Beginner's Guide To Facebook's FARM TOWN.
62Before Going On...
- This is a beginner's guide to Facebook's Farm Town, not to be confused with Farm Ville.
- I do not claim to be a "Farm God" but what I am is a level thirty-two farmer soon to be thirty-three and have been playing this game for over three months.
- I did not use any "hacks" or "cheats" throughout the course of my Farm Town career. Nor will I ever.
- Decide how you're going to play this game. Are you going to play casually? Or seriously? Do you want to level up quick? Do you want money to make your farm look beautiful? You decide. This guide is geared towards the farmer who wants to level up quickly, earn money, and have fun all at the same time.
- Let's have some fun!
Friendly Factor
- If you have friends that kill time on Facebook then ask them to be your neighbors on Farm Town. You can tell them they don't even have to play, just registering them to be your neighbor will be a big help in your farm career. Get as many as you can!
- More neighbors = more daily gifts. If it's not a hassle, ask your neighbors to gift you the highest level tree they can send. Farm animals are okay as you can sell them for money only if you have eight or more neighbors. Remember, trees always grow crop for you to harvest.
- Be sure to tend/visit your neighbors' farms. Sure it's only six experience but it all adds up. If you have eight neighbors that's forty-eight points of experience which is equivalent to forty-eight fields cropped.
- If you have neighbors that actually play, ask to harvest/plow their farm and vice versa. Sharing is caring!
- To be honest, I only have five neighbors. Only two of them really play and I got this far with that much. Don't be discouraged if you don't have more than eight neighbors. Five will do just fine.
In-Game Innovation
- First thing you should do is go under your settings (the wrench button top right corner) and set your preferred options. The crucial setting is to check mark, "remove space between fields" or something like that. This will enable you to squeeze all your fields close together so you can maximize space on your farm.
- Name your farm. :)
- Don't worry about aesthetics. In the first I would say ten-fifteen levels you should be spending all your money on seeds and harvest fields. I know, I know. The houses are tempting to buy but hold off on it until later.
- I personally don't care for trees. I don't buy them but I do have some from gifts that I have received. I use them for decoration because you can leave the crop on the trees as long as you want. They don't rot/wilt like seeds do.
- If you have trees make sure you cram them close together for efficient harvesting. After I harvest trees, I usually turn them off until they're ready to harvest.
Seed Me Up Before You Go Go
- Seeds and harvesting is where you'll be getting about eighty-five percent of your experience.
- My suggestion is to utilize the power of grapes and raspberries. Grapes only take four hours to harvest and raspberries are two. These seeds are great to produce if you know you're going to be at your computer for a long amount of time. Plant seeds/harvest/repeat. I see these two seeds as your "experience seeds."
- Now to the other seeds. I like to look at them and see them as "convenience seeds." This may sound really nerdy/dumb but plant these seeds according to your day to day schedule. For example, I check my farm every morning. If I plant seeds that take a day to harvest, they'll be ready in the morning the next day. (DUH). If you're the outgoing/party type on the weekends, I suggest you plant seeds that take two or three days to harvest. Plant them on Friday morning and harvest on Sunday. It all depends on your schedule. My main point to this is to maximize your experience/harvest money without wasting crops.
- I don't know the exact time or numbers but there is a buffer time before ready to harvest crops rot/wilt. I hope somebody corrects me on this but from what I know faster growing crops rot/wilt faster than the others. I.e. grapes will wilt faster than cotton. I don't know much on this because it's been a very long time since I've seen wilted crops on my farm. :)
- To maximize even further, always crop/plant seeds right after you harvest. It cuts the wait time between harvests significantly. Also if you choose to harvest yourself, don't sell it directly, put them in storage and sell. MORE MONEY!
- Utilize every little space and inch of your farm for seeds. Decorations and buildings take away from your work space.
Marketplace Madness
- Utilize the Marketplace to it's fullest. When the circumstances permit, get another farmer to harvest your crops. It gives you more money.
- If you're looking for extra money or experience, ask people to harvest/plow. You can't spam the same sentence over again so be creative and polite. I usually type this out- "Looking to harvest or plow. Thanks!" Or- Willing to harvest or plow. Please and thank you!." If you can't find a job in one room, go to the next.
- If you have spare time, click on other people and check on their farms. It can give you an idea of how you want your farm to look like.
Miscellaneous and Tippy Tips
- Whenever you are given the chance, expand your farm space. It's a hefty amount but it'll be worth it in the end.
- As stated above, mass produce grapes and raspberries in the beginning to level fast. These crops don't yield much money so here's my suggestion- get all your money by looking for harvesting jobs in the Marketplace. Make lots of money, then mass produce grapes and raspberries. Watch the levels rocket!
- Don't take this game too seriously. It's such a simple game, don't stress. If you're tired of harvesting/plowing use crops that take three days to harvest.
- I know this hub sounds anti-decorative but buying decorations also gives you experience. Use that to your advantage. Houses, *cough, cough*.
- From my experience, the Farm Town community is very relaxed and nice. I haven't come across "angry internet people" just a few spammers here and there. Be good to the community and it will be good to you.
Perhaps The End?
- Questions/suggestions/concerns/gripes are all welcomed. No flame wars or spam please.
- If I get good reviews on this hub perhaps I'll make a more advanced guide to Farm Town.
- Thank you for taking the time to read my hub. Now go out there and farm your butt off! :)

Dude this is so well structured and well put together.
This was very informative. However...I just can't get into it. I'm more of a casual player. I can't commit to it. Maybe because I have no passion for it. I'm an individual with overwhelming thoughts desperately trying to escape onto a piece of paper. But I also love to read and this was very well-written!
do i get more money if i leave my harvests in storage for longer?
